Through a partnership with the American Concrete Institute (ACI), the Colorado Ready Mixed Concrete Association (CRMCA) administers ACI Certifications. Follow the links below for more detailed information and to register for your ACI Certification. You can also use the Certification Calendar to view ACI Certifications. Contact the CRMCA with any questions.

Unless otherwise noted all certifications listed below are NOT training classes. Self-study is required.

ASTM offers online training courses which members receive for free. View Online Training Courses

Note, registration information will be available in early 2019 for additional certification dates.

Supplemental Examiner/Proctor Training:

The Supplemental Examiner/Proctor Training is meant to further educate potential, new, interested, existing, or experienced SEs the minimum expectations during ACI certifications and provide further insight and hints to how to be a better SE during sessions, as well as improve training skills outside of the exam room. This training is not mandatory but is STRONGLY encouraged for all potential Supplemental Examiners.

Field Testing Technician Grade 1:

A Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I is an individual who has demonstrated the knowledge and ability to properly perform and record the results of seven basic field tests on freshly mixed concrete.

Training – Field Testing Technician Grade 1:

The Field 1 Training provides an opportunity for new and existing personnel to understand basic field concrete testing procedures and why they are necessary. The training will encompass the seven (7) ASTM Standards contained within the ACI Field Concrete Testing Technician certification, which is required for most testing technicians on nearly all project sites. The training is not required prior to registration of a certification session for individuals, though is highly recommended as an introduction and/or refresher on the requirements of the certification. The one-day course full of both in class presentation and hands-on practice is free to CRMCA members.

Concrete Strength Testing Technician:

A Concrete Strength Testing Technician is an individual who has demonstrated the knowledge and ability to properly perform, record, and report the results of four basic ASTM laboratory procedures related to the determination of concrete compressive and flexural strength.

Aggregate Testing Technician Level 1:

An Aggregate Testing Technician – Level 1 is an individual who has demonstrated the knowledge and ability to properly perform, record, and report the results of basic field and laboratory procedures for aggregates.\

Aggregate Testing Technician Level 2:

An Aggregate Testing Technician – Level 2 is an individual who has demonstrated the knowledge and ability to properly perform, record, and report the results of advanced laboratory procedures for aggregates. ACI states individuals must possess a current certification as an Aggregate Testing Technician – Level 1 to grant certification of Aggregate Testing Technician – Level 2. CRMCA recommends registrants be certified as an Aggregate Testing Technician – Level 1 prior to scheduling this certification.

Laboratory Testing Technician Level 2:

A Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician – Level 2 is an individual who has demonstrated the knowledge and ability to properly perform, record, and report the results of advanced laboratory procedures for aggregates and concrete. ACI states individuals must possess a current certification in ACI Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician – Level 1. A person having concurrent certifications in ACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician and Aggregate Testing Technician – Level 1 is equivalent to the Laboratory Testing Technician – Level 1 certification. Individuals must also have one year (2000 hours) of work experience in concrete and concrete aggregate laboratory testing. Please see the ACI Work Experience Instructions and Form D5 Employee Application to complete and submit your experience requirements.

Aggregate Base Testing Technician:

An Aggregate Base Testing Technician is an individual who has demonstrated the knowledge and ability to properly perform, record, and report the results of basic field and laboratory procedures for fine aggregates and soils.

Concrete Flatwork Finisher and Technician:

A Concrete Flatwork Finisher is a craftsman who has demonstrated the ability to place, consolidate, finish, edge, joint, cure and protect concrete flatwork.

A Concrete Flatwork Technician is a person who is knowledgeable about proper procedures to place, consolidate, finish, edge, joint, cure and protect concrete flatwork, but who lacks sufficient work experience to qualify as a concrete flatwork finisher.
