The project was a cooperative effort between the Colorado Rock Products Association, the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology – Mine Safety and Training Program and the HEAT (Higher Education and Advanced Technology) Center – Colorado Division of Training Services.

The Training Program includes a series of interactive CDs and an administrative guide on how to use the CDs to assist operators and contractors in fulfilling their MSHA training requirements for new miners. The entire program is modulized and contains informative self-tests to evaluate how well the new employee retained the information. In addition to new miner training, the modular format makes it easy for an instructor to use all or part of the program for annual refresher, newly hired inexperienced miners, task, hazard and many other types of training.
