Rick
Wheeler, Committee Chairperson, called the meeting to order at 11:50 a.m. The
antitrust statement was reviewed and signed by all attendees.
Agenda
Items:
- Welcome and Self Introductions
- Self introductions of
attendees were made.
- Rick Wheeler announced the
departure of the Association’s Office Manager, Jen Lord.
- Bernie Cawley indicated an
employment offer had been extended to a qualified candidate.
- Certification Update
- 2012 Certification Schedule
- Jen Lord presented the 2012
Certification schedule; No Field I certification for January due to
holiday conflicts.
- Jen Lord indicated there is
some interest in conducting a Field I certification in the Durango area.
- Bernie Cawley stated that
over 550 people attended certification in 2011.
- Bernie Cawley indicated that
the new Association website would be coming online very soon.
- Audit Update
- Janet White gave a brief
report on the recent audit of the Strength Certification class.
- Examiner was impressed
overall; only minor issues to address
- Strength certification does
not require capping compound to be used. Water may be substituted.
- Committee voted unanimously
to require sulfur capping as a part of the certification.
- Proctors will oversee
safety concerns
- Lab Certification Update
- Bud Werner suggested the
Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) develop a list of standard
and test methods required for laboratory approval to work on CDOT
projects.
- Participation in CDOT round
robin program may be required in addition to AMRL or CCRL inspection.
- CRMCA would like to
encourage more industry participation in the round robin program.
- CRMCA needs to assist with
the program
- CDOT News/Updates
- Eric Prieve stated the
Specification Committee would be meeting next week to address the
revision to Class H, HT and Flowfill.
- Industry continues to object
to wet curing requirements for Class H and HT concrete.
- New Business
- An Effective Technical
Education Committee
- Rick Wheeler asked the
committee to provide feedback relative to having an effective Tech/Ed
committee.
- Committee comments
- This committee was
originally formed to educate the ready mixed concrete industry.
- Training and certification
is important
- Improved cooperation with
other associations such as structural engineers and architects.
- Need increased
participation from ready mixed producers.
- 2012 Goals and Objectives
- Development of key position
statements relative to concreting in Colorado
- A list of various topics
will be sent to the committee members.
- The committee will select
the top 5 topics.
- Selected topics will be
reviewed at the next committee meeting.
- Statement structure and
format will be discussed at the next meeting.
- Set 2012 Meeting Dates
