February 2017 Presidents’ Blog

Build With Strength

Hello CRMCA members. Welcome to this February President’s Blog. As the rest of the country approaches the start of spring, here in Colorado we prepare for historically the snowiest month of the year! Read on for details on CRMCA’s latest pursuits including #FixItCO, Build With Strength, and the Testing Adherence Program.

As many of you are aware #FixItCO is a coalition of business leaders, community organizations, environmental groups, and concerned citizens dedicated to finding a long-term, sustainable funding source for transportation. At the February Legislative Breakfast coalition leaders presented to the CRMCA membership on recent polling, legislative solutions, and ways to get involved with the coalition. First up – follow the team on Twitter! Second, respond to action alerts and urge your legislative officials to act. Lastly, EDUCATE your friends, family, neighbors, colleagues, etc. on the importance. Access the facts.

I am pleased to report this month the board of directors voted to give fully funded support to the Build With Strength initiative. CRMCA’s fully funded support encompasses a threefold outreach program which focuses on Communication, Governmental Affairs, and Engineering Education. On March 23 the CRMCA steering committee and NRMCA partners will hold an immersive overview on the campaign’s impact to the concrete industry. Use this link to view additional program details and get registered.

JT Mesite, P.E. has taken the lead on the Testing Standards Adherence Program. Under JT’s direction an updated questionnaire has been distributed to program assessors and a new app and website submittal page are currently being developed. In March 2017, the system will be relaunched with an updated website submittal page, interactive reports (dependent on member login), and new mobile app. Stay tuned for progress updates!

If you have any questions on these or other topics don’t hesitate to reach out to the association staff. Thank you for your support of the CRMCA!
