Aggregate Industries Wins the 2019 Concrete Magazine Cover Photo Contest!

CRMCA is pleased to announce that Benjamin Cordes of Aggregate Industries is the recipient of the 2019-2020 Colorado Concrete  magazine cover photo contest!

Since 2016, Aggregate Industries US team has been supplying Internally Cured Concrete (ICC) for Denver Water’s Hillcrest water storage tank replacement project. ICC is a proprietary mix developed by Aggregate Industries and was specifically designed for water bearing structures like the new tanks being built for Denver Water. This pour in particular required more than 1,700 yards, 35 trucks and was completed in fewer than six hours.

Hillcrest is an integral hub for managing Denver’s entire water system, and it will supply water to a quarter of the agency’s 1.5 million customers when renovations are completed in late 2019. Three new circular tanks holding a combined water storage capacity of 45 million gallons will replace two outdated in-ground storage basins built decades ago. The post tension construction design allows for these tanks to be pressure tested without backfilling—this significantly decreases overall construction time, with testing starting prior to backfill.  The new basins will be less susceptible to leaks and will have a life expectancy of 100 years.

Look for more information and photos in the upcoming Colorado Concrete magazine due out later this summer.
