April 2023 Executive Director’s Update

Hello CRMCA members.  I am going to go out on a limb and say, “winter is over”.  There, I said it and I hope it doesn’t backfire and bring snow.  May is a great month for better weather and getting outdoors more.  The construction season is getting into a higher gear.  I hope it is a safe and prosperous summer season for everyone.

Here is a brief overview of what is going on at your ready mixed association.

  • Recent Events:
    • Members of both CRMCA and CSSGA participated in a Networking Event in downtown Denver on Tuesday, April 18.  Intentionally held during the Legislative session, elected officials and/or their staff attends and interacts, providing in person contact with the lawmakers at the Capitol.  Thanks to all those participating and the turnout was extremely strong!.  And thank you to our sponsors: Bruckner’s Truck & Equipment, Holcim, Tetra Tech, and United Companies.
    • We recently wrapped up our Legislative Breakfast session on April 19 with Colorado Senator Cleave Simpson as our speaker.  As a farmer and rancher in Colorado, he is very knowledgeable regarding water and land rights, and was very informative.  We also saw a presentation by Tyra Bartuska with United Companies, one of our great and longtime members.  Tyra’s presentation included several examples of successful way to get positive messaging out to our communities regarding what we do.  The successful program United Companies and CRH have developed and implemented, are a great example of how to interact with schools and local communities.  We will use this info to soon develop and program others and use in their locations.  Thank you, Tyra and United Companies!
  • Upcoming Events:
    • As of the time of writing this blog, our Concrete Day at the Capitol is scheduled for this Friday, April 28.  Hope to see many of you there as we interact with elected officials and their key staff, providing an opportunity to have first-hand conversations with lawmakers.  The Governor is planning to speak at the event, bringing recognition to the concrete industry.  Always a great event.
    • Our next networking Event is scheduled for June in the West Slope.  Details are being finalized now, so look for info soon.
    • Also, mark your calendars to attend the Summer Outing!  This year we are returning to Vail on August 18-19.  Get is scheduled to participate and interact with members and potential members.

  • CTAC Update.  Our CTAC continues to gain momentum across the US as we are on a mission to improve concrete testing.  JT Mesite presented the program to a capacity filled room at the CONEXPO earlier in March and in April, I presented at the ACI Convention.  If you have questions or would like to learn more about the program, contact JT Mesite for information.

Thanks for making CRMCA the strong and productive association it is today.  Please reach out if we can be of assistance.
